Create a Safari Inspired Nursery

This week we have been loving all things safari related and thought we would share with you how you can create a safari inspired nursery for you and your little one to enjoy.

Mix neutral colours with splashes of bold

Use warm neutral tones such as almond and sand to paint the walls and choose neutral tones for your baby’s cot and other furniture like your changing dresser and glider. These shades will complement the bolder colours really well. Incorporate a safari feel by adding vibrant colours in shades of orange, green, blue and yellow through your nursery bedding and accessories.

Choose patterned bedding

For this Safari look we have chosen our Scout Baby Bedding set with its rich mix of orange and turquoise tones. The combination  of stripe and geometric patterns adds to the interest and overall look of the room.

Why not opt to have a co-coordinating pillow along with curtains made to match with the rest of the set as pictured above? Our nursery bedding sets come with a either a half or full bumper (depending on which option you choose) which is fastened to the inside of the cot and a matching blanket. Other optional pieces include a fitted sheet and valance, which hangs down the side of the cot as pictured above.

Add a rug

A rug will instantly add depth and dimension to your nursery. If your nursery is large & rectangular in shape we suggest adding a large rectangular rug to mirror this. If the room is smaller and more awkwardly shaped with lots of alcoves choose a round rug to create a more streamlined feeling. Rugs are a great way of putting together your nursery room theme as they are available is such a vast array of colours and styles. To go with this Safari look we have chosen the Giraffe Rug with its bold bright safari-like colours and fun giraffe pattern; we know nothing says ‘safari’ more than a giraffe!

Giraffe Rug

Giraffe Rug

The giraffe rug is made from hand tufted acrylic and the dimensions are 110 x 160 cm. A good place to position your rug is in the centre of the room or in front of baby’s cot to create a central/focal point within the room. Another design that would also work for a safari or jungle themed nursery is the Jungle Time rug.

How to Accessorise Accessories can include wall art, lighting, clocks, cushions, storage containers and even waste paper bins. These cute giraffe and monkey door knobs would be great if you wanted to jazz up an existing wardrobe or chest of drawers or you could even put your own personal stamp on new furniture purchased too.

For the Safari inspired nursery we have chosen to create a feature wall with our Jungle Tree mural which is available in a pink colourway for a girl.

Stickers can be re-positioned and removed leaving no residue on the surface and also come with easy to follow instructions.

You can go really wild by having a bespoke wall mural hand painted onto your nursery walls. Imagine a world where fantasy is reality and dreams come to life. Imagine your wildest dream. Now transport yourself there. With our Mural service your child can have a room as unique as they are. Email: design@thebabycotshop if you would like to discuss this further.

Go for a glider

A nursery isn’t really complete until you have your glider. For our Safari themed nursery we have chosen a more neutral design that works with the rooms colour pallet. Whats more by opting for neutral furniture it means that the chair can grow with your child and will work if you decide to change the room design some years down the line once baby has got a little older. The chair is also gender neutral which means it can be used in a girl or boys bedroom.

Salome Nursery Glider

Salome Nursery Glider

The Salome nursery glider is extremely comfortable yet stylish adult swivel glider. The removable cushions are made from feather blend which create a supportive cushion with excellent resiliency. You also have the option to choose from a wide range of fabrics or you could even send in your own. The chair can be piped with a contrasting fabric or piped with the same fabric as the body. Dry cleaning is recommended on the slipcovers however they are pre-washed and are machine washable.
