Lilac is such a beautiful colour & perfect for decorating a baby girl’s nursery or kid’s room, particularly if you still want the room to have a girly feel, but don’t want to opt for the traditional idea of pink for a girl. Lilac comes in many varying shades & you could start by finding inspiration from a not so obvious source, for example, your favourite flower might come in a pretty shade of lilac or maybe you adore macaroons which also come in lilac.
When decorating your nursery or kids room in lilac you don’t necessarily have to paint the walls lilac to incorporate the colour into your design. Bedding is a great way to add colour & interest to your nursery. Our sweet violet bedding pictured above is a perfect example, team it with co-coordinating curtains and accessories such as a hanging lampshade with accents of lilac. Remember not to overdo the colour, if you opt to accessorise your room with lilac furnishings stick to neutral colours for the walls & furniture in shades of white, ivory or light grey, less is more as they say.
Lilac doesn’t necessarily have to be used just in nurseries, you can also decorate with lilac in your kids room too. Creating a lilac feature wall will add depth & interest to your children’s room & for a more eclectic style why not mix white coloured furniture with natural wood furniture. Accessorize the room with simple framed prints & cute patterned cushions.
Has lilac inspired your nursery or kids room design? We would love to hear your ideas….
